Question by goughdrop: What to get for family Christmas presents?

Christmas PresentsCan anyone give me some ideas for good Christmas presents for the following family members? (Budget is $ 50 AUD)

1. Couple in mid 40’s
2. 13 year old girl
3. 15 year old boy

They have everything they need, so I am just looking for some Christmas presents ideas (maybe nice soaps, perfumes, clothing etc)

Greetings.

I am so glad you have asked this question. I have simply been DYING to answer a question like this. As this is my specialty, I am expecting best answer.

A couple in their mid-fourties do like very different things, I suggest getting the wife a nice soap and bath salt pack or a nice smelling perfume etc. For the man perhaps a casual T-shirt or some nice sunnies. Unless of course they are lesbian/gay I would not know.

The 13 year old girl, perhaps some nice jewelry or perfume or clothes. They seem to be ravelled up in popularity and wanting good Christmas presents. I suggest getting her something she will actually like.

15 year old boys, are often easy. I suggest clothes, or a nice colonge. They never expect much, but always like a nice suprise. Probably get him something he can keep for a while.

Money issues, especially debt, are what most marital arguments are about. And, most divorces are related to finances. If I were to remarry, how would I keep my next wife from overspending? I can’t keep her locked in the house, for example! She’d be free to apply for credit cards online or go down to the nearest car dealer and blow the family budget, if she wants.

Fair question. What I tried to get my wife to do is take all of our credit cards and put them in a lock box and put two locks on it and each of keep a key. That way, we’d have to sit down and actually talk about a credit card purchase before it could happen.
She didn’t agree to it and we are in financial trouble due to debt.
Damnit.

Family BudgetThe family budget tool determines how much you’re really spending hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and annually.Each year I try to refine our family budget a bit more. We have all of our expenses and income broken down by category. In coming up with estimated spending for each category, I’ve always used averages, but am wondering if medians are more accurate?

Ex: we spent an “average” of $ 218/month on entertainment last year but only a “median” of $ 207/month. For 2008, which should be used if our entertainment expenses are to remain relatively the same?

Budget Spreadsheet I want to make a home budget spreadsheet on excel and be able to download my transaction history from my bank. So far, I’ve been entering transactions by hand and that’s gotten too tiresome. My bank offers transaction historys in the downloadable formats – *qif, *csv, quicken, and microsoft money. I want to be able to just download the transaction history and input them into excel budget spreadsheet with minimal hassle. Anybody know how? Thanks.

excel will be able to open it
csv is comma separated values
when you try and open it with excel it will ask about the commas
it will work
